Restoration Project & History Repeating

Dad recently was asked by his good mate Pat Allen to build help him build a grotto. When the grotto was finished, Dad offered to restore the statue of Mary which was to be the centerpiece and was in need of a repaint and slight repair.

After Dad had carved a replacement hand from wood and reattached it, he had it set up in the shed for repainting. We couldn't resist recreating this scene from when I'd "helped" Dad in a restoration of one of the local church's statues around 24 years ago.

Here's some pics of Pat's finished grotto with the restored statue of Mary. The whole congregation came for mass and the blessing, which was quite a turn out.
